We are proud to announce the successful graduation of the Women Livelihoods Skills 2026 Cohort in Makurdi, Benue State, through The Emmanuel Ivorgba Center. This inspiring program, sponsored by KDI, has empowered local women by equipping them with valuable tailoring skills, opening new opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.
The training program lasted six months, from November 2025 to March 2026, during which participants received comprehensive instruction in tailoring, garment making, and basic business management. The rigorous curriculum aimed to boost the women’s confidence, enhance their skills, and enable them to start their own small businesses or improve existing ones. As part of their empowerment, the women received brand new sewing machines and toolkits, courtesy of KDI, which will support them as they begin their entrepreneurial journeys. The program also included mentorship and practical sessions, ensuring the women gained real-world experience and entrepreneurial knowledge.
The graduation ceremony, held on April 25, 2026, was a momentous occasion that celebrated the dedication and hard work of the women. Family members, community leaders, and program partners gathered to honor their achievements and encourage them to continue their entrepreneurial pursuits. The event featured inspiring speeches, showcasing the resilience of the women and the transformative power of skills development.
This initiative aligns with The Emmanuel Ivorgba Center’s mission to promote economic empowerment and improve livelihoods within underserved communities. By providing these women with tailoring skills and essential tools, the program aims to foster financial independence and social inclusion, contributing to broader community development in Makurdi and beyond.
The success of the Women Livelihoods Skills 2026 Cohort underscores the importance of sustainable skills training programs and the positive impact they have on women’s lives. The Emmanuel Ivorgba Center remains committed to supporting such initiatives and looks forward to empowering more women in the future.
